Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch Explains Sedation Dentistry

Tell Me More about Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry can take all the anxiety out of going to the dentist. It is as easy as taking a nap and waking up with anew smile according to Miami dentist, Dr. Bloch. Sedation dentistry has many benefits:

· It really works! You really can snooze through your dental appointment.

· It is safe. You take a small pill prior to treatment, no intravenous tubes or
needles.

· You will have little or no memory of the experience. You won't remember any
sounds or smells of a dental office.

· You can snooze for up to five to six hours after taking the pill. The time you are
snoozing will vary depending on your needed dental treatment.

· Complex dental treatments that often require six to eight appointments can be
done in as little as one - all while you snooze.

· People who have difficulty getting numb have no problem when relaxed and
snoozing.

· Sedation dentistry is a safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental
treatment requiring long visits.

How does sedation dentistry work?

You are given a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental appointment. Your
companion will accompany you to the office. By the time you arrive you will be very
drowsy. When you arrive in our office, you will be escorted into the comfort room, covered with a thick, warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. After you are comfortable we will take care of your dental needs. When your treatment is completed your companion will return you home to finish your comfortable, relaxing day.

Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants...It Is Definitely The Way to Go!

Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants
Missing teeth can create dental and cosmetic problems. However, some people are reluctant to replace missing teeth. Are you one of them? If that's the case, I'd like to have a little conversation with you.
"Well, Doc, it's just a back tooth. No one will see it. It's not going to make a difference." The plain truth is that it will make a difference! The loss of just a single tooth can set a course that can destroy an entire mouth.
"Well, if that's true, tell me more. I certainly don't want to lose the front ones that I smile
with."
Teeth will drift and tip into a space that is created by missing teeth. Just like two gears
of a car that are not properly aligned, one flaw can lead to a host of other problems. A
missing tooth can lead to bite and cosmetic problems down the road - it can even cause
difficulties with chewing or speaking.
"Well, I don't like that. What can I do?"

If it sounds like I've heard this conversation a few times, you're right. If I'm going to keep
a patient happy, I need to provide options at this point. One of the options would be an implant. This is the replacement of a tooth with a false root that is surgically placed. It is then followed by the careful construction of a crown to replace the missing tooth, to prevent teeth from shifting and thereby causing further tooth loss.

If you have any questions about missing teeth and possible implant treatment, please visit our website at http://www.BlochDentistry.com. How Can Dental Bonding Help You? Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

Improve Your Smile with Dental Bonding

Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

No matter the state of your teeth, we've got ways to give you the perfect smile. There's no need to live with chipped or broken teeth! Bonding is an effective way to lighten stains, close gaps and even alter crooked or malformed teeth. It can be used to repair or improve a single tooth, or even to revamp the entire smile.

Bonding is typically painless and can yield dramatic results in a single office visit. Bonding hides natural flaws in the teeth by placing a thin plastic coating on the front surface of the teeth. The bonding process is similar to (but not the same as!) veneers. When bonding teeth, the tooth surface is first treated. A dental composite bonding  material is then applied. The puttylike material is sculpted, shaped and colored to suit the patient's needs. We use a high-intensity light to harden the plastic. Finally, the new tooth surface is smoothed and polished.

Perfect Smiles With Dental Veneers by Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

Improve Your Smile with Veneers

#miami dentist, #dental veneers

If you're looking for a more perfect smile, then you might want to consider veneers. Popular among movie stars and other celebrities, veneers let you change the appearance of your teeth as dramatically as you want. Veneers let you brighten your teeth and straighten your smile - you can even change the size and shape of your teeth.

Veneers can be either composite or porcelain. The veneer is actually a thin piece of porcelain or composite material about the size of a fingernail. Once the custom-made veneer is bonded onto the tooth, it becomes extremely strong. It also blends in with the remaining tooth structure so that it is unnoticeable to the naked-eye. Once in place, it looks, feels, and functions just like a regular tooth.

Veneers are a popular choice for total smile makeovers, letting a dentist change not just the color but also the size, shape, and straightness of your teeth. Veneers are often used for the same reasons as bonding - to lighten stains, close gaps and even alter crooked or malformed teeth. Both can be utilized to change the shape or color of a single tooth or if necessary to revamp the entire smile. Veneers are generally more durable and stain resistant than bonding.

Replacing Black and Unsightly Silver Fillings by Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

As we all know, tooth decay can lead to cavities. For over 100 years, dentists have been using silver-mercury amalgam fillings to restore decayed or broken teeth. (In fact, the Chinese first used silver fillings in the 7th century.) Historically, the only other alternative was gold, and that was always too expensive for most folks.
These silver fillings are called amalgams. Amalgam fills the space where the decay in the tooth has been removed. However, over time, the amalgam can corrode and leak.
Teeth can crack because of the expansion of the amalgam. This blackens the silver and many times the tooth. This can be seen when a patient opens his or her mouth, and it is often a source of embarrassment for the patient.

Now, we have many ways to provide tooth-colored restorations. We can use adhesives
to bond tooth parts that look and act like teeth. We can provide a bright, healthy and
strong smile with these exciting new techniques in adhesion dentistry.

Composite fillings are a new and economical way to restore teeth while keeping patients' smiles looking great. They are made of a porcelain-like material that actually bonds to the tooth for a tight seal. They are strong and stain-resistant, and they are color-matched to the natural tooth, making them appear invisible.

Tooth-colored resin fillings are made of glass particles in a plastic matrix. The doctor
bonds the putty-like material to the tooth with a high-intensity light. This hardens the
material and allows it to be shaped and polished for immediate use.

Once completed, the tooth has a natural appearance and is actually stronger than before due to the strength of the adhesive agent used to bond the resin to the tooth. Resin restorations not only look better, but they are stronger and last longer than the old
silver-amalgam fillings.

Composite fillings also lack the sensitivity that is often associated with silver amalgam
fillings. They are especially suited for smaller cavities and for patients who may be
allergic to metal fillings.
If you have any questions about the benefits of replacing silver amalgam fillings with
invisible composite fillings call our friendly staff to schedule an appointment at (305)385-5555 or visit our website at http://www.BlochDentistry.com. We'd be happy to discuss your options. You may even be a candidate for sedation dentistry.

Dealing With Dental Anxiety - Tips From Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

Anxiety-Free Dentistry

Anxiety Update: The Waiting Game
Perhaps you sometimes find yourself feeling uneasy about the prospect of sitting in my
chair. (Don't worry, I don't take it personally!) Well, the next time you're feeling that way,
remind yourself of this interesting tidbit:

U.S. researchers have located the human brain's "dread center," an area of the brain
responsible for feelings of foreboding. Brain scans show that neurons that generate the
feeling of anxiety lie within the same areas of the brain activated by pain.

How did they figure this out? Here comes the fun part! Researchers shocked the feet of
more than thirty courageous volunteers while simultaneously scanning their brains.
(Ouch!) Just be thankful you weren't asked to participate.

The study found that about a quarter of the group were "extreme dreaders" who were
more than willing to take a stronger jolt just to be done with the whole thing. It seems
that the dread of an experience can be more overwhelming than any pain or discomfort
actually associated with it.

Most dental procedures don't hurt, but the anxiety associated with them can be
extremely unpleasant. The anxiety could stem from a bad experience, a phobia, or even

from watching Little Shop of Horrors one too many times. No matter its cause, the
anticipation of things going wrong can be far worse than the actual experience

So try to remember this the next time you grimace at the sight of an appointment
reminder, a waiting room or a drill. The dread you're feeling is not proportional to the

experience you're facing. Just take a deep breath and remember that science agrees
it really is all in your head.

If you're still feeling uneasy and want to find new methods for coping with your dental
phobia, call our friendly staff to schedule an appointment at (305)385-5555 or visit our website at ttp://www.BlochDentistry.com. We'd be happy to discuss your options. You may even be a candidate for sedation dentistry.

Preventing Decayed Teeth - Dental Care Tips from Miami Dentist Dr. Bloch

Fluoride, in proper dosage, has been shown to significantly reduce dental decay. When fluoridated water is less than the ideal amount or not available, fluoride supplements are recommended. (A call to your local water district is all that is necessary to determine whether your water has fluoride or not.)

When supplements are needed, the administration of fluoride supplements should begin shortly after birth and continue through the time of eruption of the second permanent molars (approx. 12 years of age).

Regular dental check-ups should begin no later than 18 months of age.
